Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises

If you didn't know that the newest Batman movie came out this weekend, you probably live under a rock. This movie has been huge. So far the opening weekend gross is somewhere around $165 million.

If you don't know what the movie is about, I stole this little "movie info" from Rotten Tomatoes.

"It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.. -- (C) Warner Bros."

So my opinion: this movie was good. Good enough that it was worth staying up till 4 to be able to watch it (I went to the midnight show.) Even with the 8 year time gap, it pretty much picks up where it left off. Batman is still the bad guy and Dent is praised next to God. The movie starts off right away, with Cat Woman making her first appearance. I liked that they brought all the characters together right away and laid down the story line without taking the time into the movie.

Honestly, there isn't much to say about the movie without ruining the entire thing. The best part of the movie is the ending. Even if you don't like the Dark Knight series, go see the movie just to watch the last 5 minutes. Trust me, its worth it.
